Meet the Athletic Coaches

Men's Basketball Coach - Kevin Daugherty

The 2016-2017 season marks the 12th year that Kevin Daugherty has been the Clinton Men’s Head Coach.

That period of time has been marked with numerous successes for the Cougars.

In the 2005-2006 season, the men’s team won the N.I.C. post-season championship. The following year by a season marked with 20 victories and a Final Four post season appearance in Region III in 2006-2007.

And in the 2013-2014, Coach Daugherty led the Cougars to their best season ever in Men’s Basketball finishing 24-8 and advancing to the Region III post season championship game. In February of 2014, Coach Daugherty reached two milestones; winning his 400th career game and also becoming Clinton’s all-time winningest coach in program history.

Coach Daugherty has worked hard in developing a program that has earned a high level of respect throughout NJCAA Region III and New York State. He has always focused on developing “life skills” for his players by emphasizing fundamentals, teamwork, and discipline. He has mentored several players that have moved on to compete at the four year level.

Seventeen of Coach Daugherty’s illustrious years of coaching were spent at Plattsburgh High School where he led his teams to nine division titles and nine Section VII Championships. He is the all-time wins leader at Plattsburgh High, and was inducted into the Plattsburgh High School Athletic Hall of Fame in 2009.

Coach Daugherty graduated from Plattsburgh High School in 1975. He was team Captain and team MVP as a senior under Coach Ray Holmes. In 1977-78, he was a starter on SUNY Cantons best team that finished 25-4. Coach Daugherty earned his B.A. in History at Eisenhower College of R.I.T. where he served as team captain in 79-80 under Head Coach Bob McVean.

Women's Basketball Coach - Mike Busby

Michael Busby begins his first year as the Head Coach for the Clinton Cougars 2015-2016 Women’s Basketball team. Coach Busby has returned to take the reins after being the Assistant Coach for the Lady Cougars last year.

Coach Busby began his collegiate career at Jefferson Community College in Watertown, NY. Where he completed his Associates Degree in Business Administration in 2011. He continued his playing career at Cazenovia College in Cazenovia, NY and he completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Professional Studies with a concentration in Sport Management in 2013.

Coach Busby began his collegiate coaching resume an Assistant Coach for the Jefferson Community College Women’s Basketball program. He helped lead the Lady Cannoneer’s to a 20-7 record.

Additionally, Mike has totaled 10 years of coaching experience at camps around Upstate New York such as the Potsdam International Basketball Camp in Potsdam, NY and the North Country Shootout in Watertown, NY.

Busby has high hopes for the Lady Cougars this year with 3 returners and many incoming freshmen, all looking to make an immediate impact this season.

Along with his coaching duties, Mike is also the Resident Director in the Clinton CC Residence Halls.

Women's Softball Coach - Mike Busby

Along with his Basketball Head Coaching duties Coach Busby is also the Head Coach for the Clinton CC Women’s Softball team. This will be his first year as the Head Coach for the Lady Cougars in Softball.

Coach Busby is looking forward to the ’15-’16 season on the field as he returns many of his core members from last season. Busby has also added some talented young freshmen to the mix this year.

Additionally Coach Busby is the Resident Director in the Clinton CC Residence Halls.

Men's Soccer Coach - Mike Eppler

Coach Mike Eppler has been named the Men’s Soccer Coach for Clinton Community College for the 2015- 2016 school year. Coach Eppler has worked with various age groups during his 22 years of coaching soccer, including Plattsburgh Youth Soccer and Soccer United. He has also served on the board for Plattsburgh Youth Soccer for the past 13 years has served as the Varsity Boy’s Coach at Seton Catholic High School. Mike has received various awards including; 4 sportsmanship awards, 4 sectional championships, 2 regional championships, and one final four appearance. In 2013, he was recognized as the Division 2 coach of Year.

Coach Eppler graduated from SUNY Canton with a degree in Business Management and from SUNY Plattsburgh with a degree in History/Education.

He currently lives in Morrisonville, NY and works at Sears Appliance. He is the father of two sons.
