Think Pink A Huge Success

Plattsburgh, New York… The Clinton Community College Lady Cougars Basketball Team joined forces with the SUNY Plattsburgh Lady Cardinals Basketball Team to participate in Think Pink. The "Think Pink" initiative is a global, unified effort of the Women's Basketball Coaches Association's (WBCA) nation of coaches to assist in raising breast cancer awareness on the court, across campuses, in communities and beyond. The results are in and the nationwide event has been a tremendous success. Beth Bass, WBCA CEO, sent a thank you to Coach Donna Dixon saying, "We finished with over 1,100 participants (basketball teams from high schools and colleges) and so far have raised over $600,000 and reached over 600,000 fans. I want to take this opportunity to thank each of you for participating in the 2008 WBCA's "Think Pink".

Coach Dixon said between the donations from the basketball games, free throw-a-thon, and 50/50 raffles held during games at both campuses, $1,386 was raised. The money is being donated to The Treasure Chest Program at the Fitzpatrick Cancer Center in Plattsburgh. "This event was a collaboration of two teams with a goal to raise awareness about breast cancer and to raise money for our local community. It has been so rewarding to be part of this national campaign".
