Lady Cougars win over North Country CC

PLATTSBURGH — Clinton CC won 69-59 over North Country CC


"I saw some of our freshmen mature from the first half," Clinton coach Donna Dixon said. "We were able to keep our composure and finish them off.

"It was just one of those games where we had to get experience as we went."

Shannon Nutbrown had 24 points and 14 rebounds. Johni Rae Coryea scored 17 points and Brittany Godreau had 12 points, 7 assists and 5 rebounds.

"They picked up their defensive pressure," Dixon said. "We panicked a little with the ball, turned the ball over and let them back in it. We're young, inexperienced and we're not used to that kind of defensive pressure.

"With about 11 minutes left in the second half, we were able to take advantage of their aggressive defense and have some confidence in our ball handling. And then they fouled us. But we picked up our intensity on offense, too."

"Give North Country credit," Dixon said. "They played very, very hard defense. We had to finish and make our free throws in the second half."

Clinton will travel to Schenectady CC on Thursday for a 6pm game.
