Mohawk Valley defeats CCC 89-70

PLATTSBURGH — Mohawk Valley CC defeated CCC in Men's basketball on Saturday at CCC.

"They came right after us and pressured us right from the start," said Clinton C.C. head coach Kevin Daugherty. "They hit a tremendous percentage from the field in the first half.

"Our guys are played well and playing hard. If we put our heads down in this game, we get beat by 50 points. We're undermanned and to play a team like Mohawk, which was on top of their game, doesn't make it any easier."

"They're a very, very good basketball team — ranked second in the region," said Daugherty. "Griffin and Preaster are the two best players I've seen in Region III this year. Griffin is a guard and Preaster a post player."

Justin Vice hit five three-pointers and led Clinton C.C. with 23 points. Stephane Alexander chipped in 16 points, Shareem Hardy 11 points and Anthony Hodge added 10 points. Former Plattsburgh High School player Matt Hughey finished with eight points, five blocks and seven rebounds.

"Vice led us in scoring again and has been very steady offensively this semester," Daugherty said.

"We didn't have Dexter Jones today — he injured his ankle in the Schenectady game. We're hoping to have him back for the Hudson Valley game on Wednesday in Troy."
