SUNY Delhi wins over CCC

Monday, February 08, 2010

The Clinton Community College women's basketball team played three great halves this past weekend.

Delhi-Clinton C.C. lost to SUNY Delhi.

"We didn't come to play in the first half," said Clinton C.C. coach Donna Dixon. "We didn't shoot well and allowed them to do whatever they wanted.

"We were a completely different team from the day before. We need to come ready to play in every game and that was frustrating today."

"We went to a trapping zone in the second half," Dixon said. "We went on a 26-8 run. But, we dug too big a hole to get out of. There was also a clock issue where the game had to be stopped for a while when we had the momentum. We, however, shouldn't have been in that position.

"I was happy with our play in the second half. But, it's disappointing to lose a game we could have won after how well we played yesterday."

Brittany Godreau led Clinton C.C. with 12 points. Shannon Nutbrown had 10 points and Johni Coryea chipped in nine points. Jordyn LaRock had a team-high 12 rebounds and Godreau had six rebounds and four steals.

The Cougars (10-13 overall, 6-7 conference) will host their final home game of the season on Tuesday when they host Word of Life at 5 p.m.
