Fulton Montgomery CC wins over CCC

Monday, February 08, 2010

JOHNSTOWN —CCC was defeated by by FMCC 74-62.

"We held the lead until six minutes were left in the game," said Clinton C.C. head coach Kevin Daugherty. "We were down, 13-7, and switched to a zone. We were effective and our inside guys did a good job.

"In the second half, we let them cut it in half early one. And, (Ricardo) Pierre hit a couple of three-pointers that hurt. We also weren't able to keep their post players off the glass in the second half."

Justin Vice made four three-pointers and led Clinton with 16 points. Terrick Waiters had 14 points and Shareem Hardy had eight rebounds in the first half.

"Their strength is in the post they have a lot of athletes 6-4 and 6-5," Daugherty said. "Our zone did a good job negating that early, but we weren't able to maintain it in the second half. We gave up too many second and third shots in the end.

"We got real good play from Waiters — he did a nice job defensively inside on the boards. Vice once again led us in scoring and he has been a model of consistency offensively.
