Spotlight - Business Administration: Sport Management Degree

Clinton Community College now offers an Associate of Science Degree in Business Administration: Sport Management. The program is designed for people with a passion for sports who want to combine it with a well-developed understanding of business.

The sports industry in the United States is a $60.5 billion industry (Forbes, 2014) and growing. This exciting new program will put an individual on their way to a fulfilling career in: sports marketing, media relations, event/venue management, sales management for a sport product company, ticket sales, public relations, and a host of other positions within the sport, athletic, fitness, recreation, and tourism fields.

The Sport Management program will also prepare students for the smooth transition into a four-year Bachelor of Sport Management Degree program. Students will build a solid base of general education and business courses along with being exposed to foundational sport management courses required for continuing their education at the Bachelors level. The program provides students the foundation to seamlessly transfer to parallel bachelor’s degree programs and assists in development of the skills and expertise necessary to secure mid to upper level positions in the vast array of career paths that encompasses the sport management field.

As a part of the SUNY system, Clinton has seamless transfer pathways to other four year institutions offering Bachelor’s degree programs in Sport Management. Through these four-year institutions individuals have secured internship and employment opportunities in such organizations as: ESPN, Sports Illustrated, the New Your Mets, New York Jets, Buffalo Bills, New York Rangers, NASCAR, United States Olympic Training Center and along with many more organizations.
