One of our advantages is that we are a small but dynamic college, with a strong tradition of advancement and progress. As part of college mission, we will be deploying on December 22nd our brand-new website/portal.
The new college site has been in development since March of 2004. Its specifications and architecture is based on the suggestions of many different individuals from around the campus.
The new site will help us serve our students better by automating certain information management tasks. We have also made it easier for the different departments and offices to publish and manage web content with very little knowledge of how the web works.
A major area of focus during the development of the new web portal is organization and ease of access. The old site has serious limitations such as outdated content, and difficulty finding information.
To resolve these issues we’ve came up with a few solutions. One of them for example, is when a user is trying to access an office or a department site: On the old site, one had to navigate through a maze of links in order to reach an office. With the new site, there are various method : Direct Access: www.clinton.edu/bursar or www.clinton.edu/admissions and so on, Quick List: at the top of every page there are a drop down menu with a quick list of offices to jump to, and many more.
In addition to better content organization, we’ve added new tools and improvements. The new campus directory will make finding a faculty or staff member a breeze. We have also added a general documents/forms catalog which houses all documents posted by all offices and departments in the college.
These are only few of the many exciting new possibilities the new college website brings. This is also only a start to what could become a world-class college portal serving our students, faculty and community at their convenience. We have many more features planned, including:
* Content Syndication and Personalization added to the Clinton Times: This will allow you to read headlines from your favorite newspaper, get weather forecast for your area and more!
* Internship Database: This will allow students to find internships, and employers to register to post internships, and jobs.
* And much more!
We invite you to visit us @ Clinton.edu on December 23rd and find out what the New Clinton.edu has to offer!
And as always, we are here to serve you. We welcome your comments and suggestions.
