Family Fun Day Announced to Fight Kidney DiseasePlattsburgh, NY—– Grab your sneakers and your family and head out to Clinton Community College on March 30 for the first annual Family Fun Day to benefit the National Kidney Foundation or Northeast New York. The event will combine an indoor kidney walk with family activities, a free kidney disease screening, and entertainment by well known Adirondack performer Roy Hurd.
Activities planned for the day include a 2 mile walk on the indoor walking track, a kidney disease screening, a basketball and soccer clinic for kids, a bouncy bounce, clown, face painting, arts and crafts, refreshments and other activities. The event is free and open to the public but the National Kidney Foundation is asking for people to form walk teams or collect donations which will fund patient services, community screenings and education in Clinton County.
“26 million Americans have kidney disease,” said Carol LaFleur, Executive Director of the NKFNENY “Diabetes and hypertension are the two leading causes, and as you know, diabetes is very prevalent in the north country. This event will draw attention to the importance of early detection for those at risk while raising funds for kidney patients and their families , and provide an afternoon of fun for the entire family.”
The screening and family activities will open at 10 am; anyone wishing to walk can register on site at 11 am or on line at www.nkfneny.org. Roy Hurd will perform at 1 pm. More information is available by calling 800-999-9697 or emailing info@nkfneny.org.
The event is being sponsored by McBride Chevrolet, Ortho Biotech and Clinton Community College.
