 Dr. Cheryl A. Reagan

As Vice President for Academic Affairs, Reagan will have responsibilities for the academic initiatives of the college. She’ll oversee the faculty and all areas of teaching and learning, as well as administer the academic budget. She will have responsibility for all academic programs, information technology, library services, and continuing education. In her leadership role, she will be a member of the President’s Council and Cabinet and will provide administration support in areas of continuous academic self study, strategic planning and institutional effectiveness.

Dr. Reagan comes to Clinton Community College from Sussex County Community College in Newton, New Jersey, a college of 3800 students, where she spent the last five years as the Dean of Liberal Arts, Social Science, and Education Division. Prior to her position as Dean, Reagan held a teaching position as a Professor of Modern Languages, teaching Spanish, Latina Literature, and French. While at Sussex, she provided academic leadership to the division in carrying out its instructional mission, as well as to create new degrees and options. She had responsibility for 22 full time, and over 100 part time faculty and several staff members. As dean, she administered the division’s annual budget, scheduled division courses, conducted program reviews, led the development of articulations with four year institutions, facilitated concurrent agreement programs with county high schools and served a number of campus committees. She has also served on several Middle States Accreditation teams and was faculty liaison for assessment initiatives.

"I’ve only been here a couple of weeks and there are so many big pluses" said Reagan. "The College has several new and exciting programs preparing to start, Wind Energy and Turbine Technology, the Fine Arts Program and reactivation of the Electrical Technology: Electronics, and Computer Technology. The faculty is excited and there is an energy and pride that comes from being part of something positive. I’m very confident with the team I’ve got to work with," she said, "and they are poised at the edge of their seats ready to share in what’s going to happen."

Reagan earned her Doctoral Degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, 2007, with a specialization in Educational Leadership in Higher Education. She completed a Master of Arts degree from Saint Louis University, 1987, and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Bucknell University, 1985. Among her many accomplishments, Reagan co-founded and directed the SCCC/Centenary College Education Partnership Program and the Accelerated Reading and Composition Program. In addition, she developed a two-year new Faculty Orientation Program and initial learning outcomes assessment process.

Reagan is a member of the American Association of College Deans, the American Council on Foreign Language Education, the Education Commission of the States, and National Association of Community College Teacher Education Programs.

"We are thrilled Dr. Cheryl Reagan has chosen to join the CCC family" said President Woodward. "She brings experience in and understanding of Community Colleges from her position as Academic Dean at Sussex Community College in New Jersey for the past several years. Dr. Reagan’s background matches well the needs of Clinton as the college enters another academic year and meets its plans for its continued growth. Her leadership will help set Clinton ahead and apart from the competition."

"The people who work here are so open, warm and friendly," added Reagan, "even in the area where I live people wave and smile - its second nature to them. Driving in to work those first few days were moving moments that brought tears to my eyes; seeing a bit of the lake and mountains was so beautiful. I just tell myself, its okay to be new." Reagan, her husband Ron and daughter Emily live in Peru.
