CJ Club Fundraiser Helps Local Organization
Tuesday, December 15, 2009
Plattsburgh, New York……The Criminal Justice Club of Clinton Community College sponsored a fundraiser to help support victims of domestic violence in Clinton County. The Club raised $400, which they presented to Stop Domestic Violence director, Susan Kelly, in a ceremony held recently at the College. Kelly accepted the check for $400 from Rosa Ganiszewski, CJ Club president, Jackie Soulia, vice president and Allison Davis, secretary. The fundraiser is held annually during the holiday season. Club advisors are Professor John Mockry, Associate Professor Catherine Eloranto, and Assistant Professor Diana Wardell.
“Each semester the Criminal Justice Club at CCC makes an effort to raise funds for an off- campus charitable organization that needs our assistance,” said Professor John Mockry. “The victims of domestic violence are in need of many resources year around, not the least of which is support during the holiday season. The Stop Domestic Violence Program of Clinton County, under the long-time directorship of Susan Kelly, provides services and aid to these individuals in a variety of ways. In the tradition of “giving” during this time of the year, the members of the Criminal Justice Club were pleased to present a check for $400 to Ms. Kelly at our monthly club meeting in December. The Club has made donations of goods and cash to this organization in years past, but this was by far the largest donation that we were ever able to make to this excellent community service organization.”
“When the Criminal Justice Club voted to raise funds for Stop Domestic Violence I was excited,” expressed Rosa Ganiszewski, CJ Club president. “Such a task would benefit local victims of domestic violence and hopefully bring some relief to the wonderful volunteers that make the Stop Domestic Violence program available to those who need it. My fellow club members worked hard to raise funds and I thank everyone for all the effort put forth to make the event so successful.”
