2010 Distinguished Alumni Award

Plattsburgh, NY…Each year the Clinton Community College Alumni Association accepts nominations for the award of Distinguished Alumni. The CCC Alumni Association defines such an individual as an alum who has made a meaningful contribution to their community, has achieved a high level of professional success and is distinguished in their profession, and has demonstrated an ongoing commitment to professional development.

The 2010 recipient of the CCC Distinguished Alumni Award is Clinton County Sheriff, David N. Favro. David graduated from Clinton Community College in 1981 and was hired by the Plattsburgh City Police Department in 1982. David retired as a detective with twenty years of experience and a Bachelor’s degree in community relations. He was elected to Sheriff of Clinton County in 2002.

David Favro has received numerous awards for his involvement in the community, is credited with two major publications and has been instrumental in creating, supporting, and maintaining many community programs. David is a credit to his profession and during his 28 year career in public service, he has not forgotten where he got his start:

“It is a great honor to be recognized by the faculty, staff and graduates as the 2010 recipient of the Clinton Community college distinguished Alumni Award! Attending CCC provided me with the opportunity to create the future I dreamed of.”

John Mockry, Professor, and Chair of the Criminal Justice Program at Clinton Community College praises David’s dedication to CCC:

“His involvement with CCC spans all the way back to his days as a student, and graduate of our very own criminal justice program at Clinton Community College under its late program coordinator, the wonderful “Milly” Kelly. Clearly, he has not forgotten his “roots” to the outstanding criminal justice career he now has, as he is currently on the Perkins Grant Advisory Board, the Criminal Justice Advisory Board, and helps raise scholarship money at CCC. Yearly, he attends meetings on our campus in both of these capacities, providing valuable insights into our programs and mission here ‘on the hill’.

David Favro will be honored for his years of commitment to Clinton Community College and the community at large. A reception will be held at the new CCC Alumni Cottage preceding graduation this Friday at 4 PM to recognize David’s many achievements. CCC is proud to boast that David N. Favro is a distinguished alumnus.
