CCC Hosts Winter Commencement for Class of 2010

Plattsburgh, New York – Clinton Community College's Winter Commencement ceremony will take place on Friday, December 17, 2010, at 6:00 p.m. Over 193 graduates are eligible to receive associate degrees and certificates at the ceremony to be held in the gymnasium of the William H. Forrence Health, Physical Education and Recreation Center.


Dr. Cheryl Reagan, vice president for academic affairs will preside over the commencement ceremony. President John E. Jablonski will welcome the graduates and guests on behalf of the college, Dr. Stephen St. Onge, vice president for student affairs and Nina Coolidge, chair of the CCC Board of Trustees, will present the candidates for degrees.


The Faculty Council chose Donna Dixon, admissions advisor and women’s soccer and basketball head coach, to carry the ceremonial Mace as Faculty Marshal.


CCC President, John E. Jablonski will offer greetings to the graduates. Also giving greetings is Chair of the CCC Board of Trustees, Nina D. Coolidge, and on behalf of the Clinton County Legislature, Jackie Walker. Coach Donna Dixon will give greetings on behalf of the faculty council and Robert Gordon, student senate president and student trustee, Plattsburgh, NY, will address fellow students.


The December Class of 2010 has 26 students graduating with honors; eight will graduate cum laude, seven will
graduate magna cum laude and 11 will graduate summa cum laude.


Phi Theta Kappa the National Honor Society of the Two-Year College has 14 members who are graduating.


Sarah Marie Titherington, Morrisonville, NY, is the Class of 2010 Valedictorian and is student speaker for the winter commencement ceremony. She graduates with an Associate of Applied Science Business Administration Degree. Titherington has plans to go on to SUNY Plattsburgh to study psychology and she hopes one day to join their masters program for mental health counseling.


"I'm truly humbled to receive the honor of valedictorian," said Titherinton. "This is the cherry on top of my experience at CCC and I would not have been able to get this far if it wasn't for the support and encouragement of the faculty and staff as well as family and friends."


Jessica L. VanSplinter, Plattsburgh, NY, is the Class of 2010 Salutatorian. She graduates with an Associate of Science Liberal Arts, Math and Science Degree.


The music for the commencement ceremony will be performed by the CCC College Chorale under the direction of Saundra Stortz and accompanied by pianist Meghan Riley.


A reception will follow immediately after the ceremony; the event is open to the public.
