Clinton Community College to Hold Veteran’s Day Ceremony

CCC Veteran’s Club Will Honor Local Soldiers

Who: CCC Veteran’s Club, College Faculty and Staff, area Veterans and children from Bailey Avenue School in Plattsburgh.

What: The CCC Veteran’s Club will hold a ceremony to mark Veteran’s Day. Vietnam Veteran, Gary Pageau will be the keynote speaker. Gary served two tours of duty in Vietnam as a member of the US Air Force. The formal ceremony will include bagpipers, proper ceremonial handling of the American flag, a gun salute and the playing of taps.

PSU’s ROTC Color Guard unit will conduct the flag handling; a unit from Fountain Brothers American Legion Post 1619 will perform the gun salute. Clinton Community College’s, Jim Bougill will play Taps.

Immediately following the ceremony will be a short reception in the Stafford atrium where children from Bailey Avenue School will thank veterans for their service through the creation of a huge banner filled with their best wishes, pictures, and notes of thanks. Students will present the “Thank You, Veteran’s” banner with 30-50 or more kids/families saying, “Thank you for your service!” The banner will be displayed on the wall for the reception and then will travel to our local VFW on Boynton Avenue for display.

Where: Clinton Community College, near Flagpole (Flagpole is located at the south entrance of the Moore Academic Building)
