CCC Holds Veterans Day Ceremony

PLATTSBURGH, NY -  The Clinton Community College Veteran’s Club held a ceremony to mark Veteran’s Day Friday.  Vietnam Veteran, Gary Pageau was the keynote speaker. Gary served two tours of duty in Vietnam as a member of the US Air Force. The formal ceremony included bagpipers, proper ceremonial handling of the American flag, a gun salute and the playing of Taps.

PSU’s ROTC Color Guard unit conducted the flag handling and a unit from Fountain Brothers American Legion Post 1619 performed the gun salute. Clinton Community College’s, Jim Bougill will played Taps.

Immediately following the ceremony a reception in the Stafford atrium took place.  A huge banner was hung on the wall created by children from Bailey Avenue School.  They thanked veterans for their service through this banner filled with their best wishes, pictures, and notes of thanks.
Student representative, Dalton Tahy, a first grader at Bailey Avenue School, thanked veterans on behalf of his classmates.

 The banner was moved to the local VFW on Boynton Avenue for display.
