"Tech" Institute Designed for Students and Employers

Wednesday, June 06, 2012

“Clinton Technology Institute” (CTI) is designed for those students who are preparing to enter the local workforce or who are interested in earning a Technology degree.

CTI will offer Blueprint Reading & Technical Schematics and Principles of Industrial Maintenance along with the Manufacturing Skills Standards Council (MSSC) Certified Production Technician (CPT) Maintenance Awareness certification. The program cost to students is just $396, plus supplies. Students who successfully complete the CTI courses will earn four college credits and the MSSC CPT Maintenance Awareness certification. Classes begin on July 9th and wrap up on August 9th. Classes will run Monday through Thursday 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

The CPTAE Certification addresses the core technical competencies of higher skilled production workers in all sectors of manufacturing. MSSC awards certificates to individuals who pass any of its four Production Modules: Safety; Quality Practices & Measurement; Manufacturing Processes & Production; Maintenance Awareness; a full CPTAE Certification to those who pass all four modules. Following accreditation by the American National Standards Institute in December 2011, under ISO Standard 17024, the MSSC initiated a new CPT with an “AE” designation which stands for “ANSI Edition."

Blueprint reading & Schematics is designed to acquaint students with a broad overview of methods of constructing blueprints and their interpretations. Students are given the opportunity to read and draw schematics used for industrial processes and controls including electrical, hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical drawings.  Principles of Industrial Maintenance covers the economic benefits of properly maintaining manufacturing equipment to minimize downtime and capital cost of premature replacement.

Clinton’s Technology Institute was designed with both students and employers in mind.  For students, CTI provides access to training at a convenient time and provides funding to reduce cost.  For employers, it strengthens the workforce as they look to fill open positions within their organizations.
