Veteran's Day Ceremony Held on Campus

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. (November 12, 2012) The Clinton Community College Veteran's Club held its annual Veteran's Day ceremony on Monday.

Dozens of students, faculty, staff and community members came out for the event. The observation began at noon, near the campus flagpole, with a welcome from student speaker and veteran Jimmy Duvall.

This year's keynote speaker was Thomas Middleton. An Iraq War Veteran and Clinton Alumnus.The observation included a ceremonial folding of the flag by the Plattsburgh State ROTC Honor Guard, a 21 gun salute, playing of TAPS by Clinton Professor Jim Bougill and a moment of silence for the three New York Army National Guard Soldiers killed in Afghanistan, including former Clinton Community College student Dain Venne from Port Henry.

Immediately following the ceremony a short reception was held in the Stafford Center atrium where cake and coffee was provided by the Veteran's Club.

The Veteran's Club also hosted a bake sale, raffle, sale of wrist bands and distribution of poppies in the lobby of the Moore Building prior to the event.  All the proceeds of these sales will go to the CCC Veteran's Assistance Fund.
