New Agreement with SUNY Potsdam

Monday, December 02, 2013

Clinton Community College (Clinton) President John E. Jablonski and SUNY Potsdam President Dr. Dennis L. Hefner signed a new articulation agreement, which enables Clinton students a seamless transfer into over 50 majors at SUNY Potsdam.

Students who complete an Associate of Arts (A.A.) or Associate of Science (A.S.) degree at Clinton can now transfer into SUNY Potsdam with “junior” standing and complete their bachelor’s degree in just two years of full-time study.

“Clinton is very excited to partner with SUNY Potsdam to provide this new transfer option,” states Clinton Vice President of Academic Affairs, Dr. Cheryl Lesser. “Students will be able to begin their career at Clinton and have all the information they need to complete an associate degree, and then transfer seamlessly into their junior year at SUNY Potsdam.”

Depending on the bachelor’s degree program they are planning to transfer into, Clinton students complete their associate degree coursework following advisement guidelines. These guidelines along with general education requirements complete the pathway needed for seamless transfer.

Aside from saving money on tuition by completing their first two years at Clinton, according to the Chronicle of Higher Education, students who complete their associate degree first are also more likely to be more successful in obtaining their higher degree, saving money in the long term. “The excellent preparation students receive at Clinton gives them the edge they need to be successful in their next phase of higher education,” adds VP Lesser.

Clinton holds similar transfer agreements with many other SUNY and private institutions. This new agreement with SUNY Potsdam is the greatest number of articulation agreements Clinton holds with any one school, outside of SUNY Plattsburgh.
