Environmental Science students visit NYCO Minerals

Monday, November 24, 2014

Students in Gib Brown's Environmental Science class recently visited the NYCO Minerals mine complex, in Willsboro, NY. The purpose of the trip was to learn about the importance of economic minerals in the local region and to study, first hand, some of the environmental impacts they have on the community.

Clinton students got a great overview of the process of mine development and reclamation that take place once the economic mineral has been exhausted. The staff at NYCO Minerals in Willsboro gave a wonderful presentation of the various facets of the mining industry in the Adirondacks.
