Three Clinton Faculty, Staff Recognized for Excellence

Three Clinton Community College faculty and staff members received the Chancellor’s Award for Excellence for 2017: Barrie Guibord, Gary Henry, and Sarah McCarty. The Chancellor’s Award for Excellence is a State University of New York system-wide honor, providing recognition for consistently superior professional achievement and encouraging the ongoing pursuit of excellence. Through these awards, SUNY publicly proclaims its pride in the accomplishment and personal dedication of its instructional faculty, librarians, and staff across its 64 campuses and system administration.

Barrie Guibord, Adjunct Professor in the Social and Behavioral Sciences department, received the Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Adjunct Teaching. This award recognizes adjunct faculty who perform superbly and maintain instructional policies that adapt readily to student needs, interests and problems. Barrie has been an adjunct in Clinton’s Social and Behavioral Sciences department since 2001 where he has been energetic, demanding, and creative in the classroom promoting an environment that values experience and learning.

Gary Henry, Associate Professor of Environmental Science & Technology, received the Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching. Gary teaches an array of courses ranging from environmental sciences to environmental technology. He is a very knowledgeable instructor with tremendous experience and knowledge that he brings to the classroom. Students note that they respond well to his approachable style, and commend him for making learning relevant and interesting. Gary is also very active on campus with various clubs and student events.

Sarah McCarty, Director of Campus Life, received the Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Professional Service. Sarah’s commitment to students, both on and off campus, is outstanding. She goes above and beyond with her time to help guide and support our students. She takes an active part in making campus life fun as well as educational for both on and off-campus students. Her evaluations, listing of honors and committee service make her dedication exemplary, and Clinton students love her.

Clinton Community College President Ray M. DiPasquale congratulates Barrie, Sarah, and Gary on their awards and thanks them for their service and commitment to the College. “It is people like Barrie, Sarah, and Gary who make Clinton such a remarkable place. I sincerely appreciate all they do for this school, and it is an honor to be here working with them.”

The Chancellor’s Award recipients were recognized during the College’s Spring Commencement ceremony, held on May 12.
