Don Papson to Present "Solomon Northup: The Free Slave"

In celebration of Black History Month at CCC, historian Don Papson will present “Solomon Northup: The Free Slave."

Solomon Northup,
a 19th-century free-born black man and accomplished fiddle player who was lured from his home in Saratoga Springs with a promise of $3 for every performance only to be kidnapped into slavery. His life story inspired the 2013 film, Twelve Years a Slave, winner of three Academy Awards, including Best Picture.

About Don Papson:
Dan Papson is the founder of the North Country Underground Railroad Association and the North Star Underground Railroad Museum in Ausable Chasm. Don was named winner of the 2012 Underground Railroad Free Press Prize for Leadership; his most recent work is Secret Lives of the Underground Railroad in New York City: Sydney Howard Gay, Louis Napoleon and the Record of Fugitives.
