Clinton Community College is hosting a “Campus Showcase” event on Saturday, June 8 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the Institute for Advanced Manufacturing building, 136 Clinton Point Drive, Plattsburgh. Upcoming high school graduates, as well as community members, are invited to learn more about the opportunities available at Clinton. The event provides an opportunity for participants to speak with different areas of the college, meet faculty, staff, and be involved in an engaging, self-directed experience.

The event is sponsored by the Achieving the Dream Grant-Open Educational Resources where attendees will learn about zero-cost digital textbooks used in campus and online courses.

Clinton Community College President Ray DiPasquale states “With high school commencements around the corner, Clinton wants to remind graduating seniors, as well as the greater Plattsburgh community, that Clinton Community College is here for you. Whether you are graduating from high school this year and not sure what the future has in store for you, or if you graduated 20 years ago and are ready for a fresh start, you’ll find Clinton has programs to help you direct your own future and experiences.”

Registration and check in will start in the IAM building at 9:00 AM. Once registered, attendees can determine their activities based on personal interests along with the guidance of the faculty and staff on hand. Academic, financial aid and admissions advisors will also be available to answer any questions. And if becoming involved in one of Clinton’s athletic programs is of interest, coaches from various sports will also be available.

“Registered attendees will be provided refreshments that includes a coffee house, lunch, and an ice cream sundae bar” states Lee Ann Thomas, one of the event organizers. Kelly Misner, another event organizer, indicates “the theme for this showcase is to write your own script and star in your future – a role made especially for you.”

Highlights for the event include:

  • Financial Aid Planning and Information on Open Educational Resources – Zero Cost Textbooks.
  • Learn about career pathways and professional credentials which includes the new Industrial/Commercial Associate of Occupational Studies degree.
  • Tour the campus – see the new Institute for Advanced Manufacturing Building, the Learning Commons and explore the Science, Arts and Technology programs offered at Clinton Community College.
