Clinton Community College Announces Summer Concerts on the Bluff

Tuesday, June 28, 2005

Clinton Community College is pleased to announces the 31st Annual Concerts on the Bluff summer concert series for 2005.

Every summer for the last 31 years, Clinton Community College has hosted a series of concerts on the campus at 136 Clinton Point Drive. The concerts are free and open to the public on select Wednesday evenings during the months of July and August.

This year’s concert series begins on July 13th with one of the Adirondack’s favorite sons, singer and songwriter, Roy Hurd. He will be joined by Frank Orsini, his fiddler friend from Glens Falls, New York. This concert is sponsored by the CCC Alumni Association.

A special first time concert appearance by Elisabeth von Trapp will take place on July 20th, sponsored by the College and the CCC Student Senate. Von Trapp grew up surrounded by music on her family's farm in Waitsfield, Vermont. Her father was a member of the world renowned Trapp Family Singers. Elisabeth’s voice, a unique combination of the ethereal and earthy, has been nurtured by a rich tradition of classical, folk and pop music.

On July 27th, the musical group Joey Fusion will perform on the bluff. Joey Fusion creates original material by combining the different styles of jazz, funk, country, pop and rock n’ roll. Together they fuse musical genres into a novel and unexplored sound.

On Wednesday evening, August 3rd, Concerts on the Bluff welcomes back the Too Tall String Band, known for their off beat humor and interesting mix of historical, original, and contemporary folk and string band music.

The concert series will conclude on August 10th, with The Adirondack Jazz Orchestra. This will be the first time this group of area music teachers will perform their traditional and modern Big Band Sound music for the Concerts on the Bluff audience. They enjoy being role models of good musicians to our area’s youth and love sharing their music.

Concerts on the Bluff are free and open to the public. They start promptly at 6:30 pm and are held rain or shine. Guests are urged to bring a lawn chair or blanket to sit on. No alcoholic beverages are allowed. For your safety, please no rollerblades or skateboards. For more information go to: http://www.clinton.edu/CollegeRelations/or call 518 562-4160.
