Tuesday, November 08, 2005

Plattsburgh, - A Veteran’s Day observance ceremony will be held at Clinton Community College, on Friday, November 11th, at 11:00 a.m., near the flagpole next to the main campus building. Dr. Maurice “Moe” Hickey, CCC president and keynote speaker said, “It’s fitting that Clinton Community College play host to the ceremony honoring our veterans, both current and past. The North Country and Lake Champlain regions have been key players in our nations military history. Its citizens have always answered the call of their country.”

Dr. Forrest E. Studebaker, associate professor, history and social science will give observance remarks. He further explained, “Communities remember; that’s part of being one. This Community College remembers, in Dr. John McCrae’s words that: "In Flanders Fields the poppies blow, Between the crosses, row on row."

Among special guests participating or attending the ceremony are Dr. John Ettling, President of Plattsburgh State University, Clinton County Legislator, Jacqueline Walker, Dr. Allen Walker, and Assemblyman Christopher Ortloff.

The ceremony is open to the public and will include a remembrance token of the day.
