Painting a Landscape in Pastels
This class teaches how to approach painting a landscape in pastels. Students will learn how to
find the right subject for their painting and how to transpose it to paper. Among the concepts
you will learn are: perspective, atmospheric perspective, halation effects, basic composition,
color, focal points and the technical advantages and disadvantages of the medium. You will
learn about papers, pigments and application methods. Each student will complete a finished
pastel painting and learn different methods of preserving their art.

 
Time: All sessions, 10:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Fun with Watercolors
Come paint with us and have fun learning how to create your own original watercolor paintings. You'll enjoy six class lessons that are designed to teach you beginning watercolor techniques. Have fun painting your artistic interpretations of "Your Floral", "North Country Mountains", "New England Lighthouse", "Stand of Trees", "Fish" and a surprise-painting lesson.

Intro to Flash Photography
Explore the characteristics of light and how it relates to the use of a flash. Learn the fundamental of controlling flash output and explore camera sync modes. Investigate the use of wireless flash possibilities. Learn techniques of how to use fill flash and adjust flash for ambient light. Create a studio light portrait session using two flash units. Bring camera and flash.

Digital Photography and Basic Image Adjustment

Learn how to expose the digital image and manipulate the camera settings to achieve a creative image. Explore compositional techniques to achieve balance in your photograph. With the use of Photoshop learn how to make basic image adjustments and prepare your image for print. Bring your digital camera and a memory stick (flash drive).
