Description: Worldwide business periodicals and information on 60,000+ companies. Primarily full text.
Sample search / results: Advanced search, “college students, check “full text documents only," change “Citation and abstract" to “Document title” / 301 items.
Hint: Selecting “Document title” limits your results to items that contain the term, “college students” in the title of the article.

Description: Detailed, impartial articles about public policy topics, including technology, medicine, education, international matters, the environment and the United States economy.

Hint: Using “Advanced Search / Topics only" gives you more specific results than using Quick Search.

Description: Access to information about 38,000+ items held by the College library
Sample search / results: Hamlet. Field to search: title / 17 items in five formats.
Hint: "title" searches all possible title information; "exact title" searches only the title on the item. You'll get fewer, more specific results with "exact title."

Description: Over 750 full text journals covering all areas of education.
Sample search / results: Advanced search, distance education, check “Full Text," change “Default Fields" to “TI Title" / 591 items.
Hint: Selecting “TI Title" limits your results to items that contain the term, “distance education" in the title of the article.

Description: Index to education journal articles. Full text ERIC Digests are available. Retrieves full text articles from other EBSCO databases.

Description: This database offers full text coverage for more than 60 of the most popular science publications. Providing information on all aspects of the scientific world, the General Science Collection offers full text information dating back as far as 1992.
Sample search / results: Advanced search, check “Full Text," change “Default Fields" to “TI Title", space shuttle. / 24 items.
Hint: Selecting “TI Title" limits your results to items that contain the term, “space shuttle" in the title of the article.

Description: Articles concerning alcoholism, complementary treatments, diseases, drug abuse, fitness, herbal remedies, medicine, nutrition, occupational health and safety, pregnancy, prescription drugs, public health, and more.

Hint: This database will first show you that it has two reference items on this topic. Remember to click the "Magazines and Journals" tab to get the 442 items.

Hint: On the search screen, the box next to “Database" says, “News – ProQuest Newspapers," not “National Newspapers." Although the ProQuest Newspapers database contains fifty newspapers, a National Newspapers search is limited to twenty-seven newspapers.
Database of the week: NetLibrary
Description: Includes over 4,000 eBooks on a wide variety of subjects.
Sample search / results: Poe. Field to search: Author / 81 items.
Hint: After searching for author, change "Sort by" to "Title" to alphabetize your results.
Database of the week: New York State Newspapers
Description: Full text articles from ten major newspapers published in New York State, including the New York Times and the Times Union (Albany).
Sample search / results: Adirondack Northway / 10 items.
Hint: Subject terms listed on the side menu do not narrow your search. They are the subjects included in the database which are alphabetically before and after your search terms.

Database of the week: Opposing Viewpoints Resource Center
Description: Information from a variety of sources on social issues. Also a good place to get research paper topic ideas.
Sample search / results: Click Athletes, then click “Drugs and Athletes on the side menu. / 10 items.
Hint: Clicking topics usually works better than typing terms into the search box in this database. Also, once a topic on the home page has been clicked, selecting a topic on the side menu can be helpful. Note: Verifying that the source being used is in the format needed is especially important with this database.

Sample search / results: Advanced search, John Hancock, change "Citation and document text " to “Author" / 34 items.
Hint: It is not necessary to list the author’s last name first in this database.
Database of the week: ProQuest Historical Newspapers (The New York Times)
Description: “Covers The New York Times from its first issue in 1851 through 2003." – ProQuest
Sample search / results: Advanced search, automobile, change "Citation and document text " to “Document title " / 10484 items.
Hint: Limiting the search by title can increase the relevancy of the results. Still, it may be necessary to scroll down. Oldest results are listed first.
Database of the week: ProQuest Newspapers
Description: Fifty newspapers, including the twenty-seven publications in the National Newspapers database.
Sample search / results: Advanced search, “rap music," check “full text documents only," change “Citation and document text" to “Subject" / 7429 items.
Hint: Selecting "Subject" limits your results to items that are about rap music.

Description: Full text, peer-reviewed psychology journals.
