COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This course is designed to help students acquire the skills they will need for academic success. They will learn to produce essays that are clear, concise, and unified. The writing process is emphasized. Students write papers out of class, at least one of which requires outside sources and documentation, as well as in class. Near the end of the course, students will complete a final timed in-class essay which will be evaluated by the CCC English Department to assess the writer's preparedness to move on to other college-level writing courses.

COURSE PREREQUISITE:
Successful completion of ENG 094, placement into ENG 101 based on the results of the Placement Test, or exemption from the Placement Test on the basis of a standardized test such as SAT or ACT, or teacher recommendation.
