Clinton Community College
The Human Services Program has a fieldwork component of 250 hours during a student’s last semester. Examples of fieldwork sites attended by Human Services students are listed below. Advocacy and Resource Center - Residential Services for Developmentally Disabled
Duties & Tasks: Assisting individuals with daily living skills, i.e. personal hygiene, cooking, cleaning, etc., documenting activities with residents according to individual plans, and attending outings with residents.
Conifer Park – Outpatient Chemical Dependency Agency
Duties & Tasks: Conduct assessments, facilitate group treatment, observe crisis intervention situations, complete documentation on clientele, and assist with file management and other administrative tasks.
Department of Social Services – Child Support Unit
Duties & Tasks: Develop your human service skills through building initial cases to refer to specialists, obtain important information through interviewing in order to proceed to the appropriate petition necessary to obtain financial support for the family, network with other child support unit staff, attend hearings to learn court proceedings, develop telephone interviewing abilities, learn to navigate on CSMS and WMS - Child Support Management System and Welfare Management System, assist with filing, disbursing reports and other associated duties. Department of Social Services – Employment Assistance
Duties & Tasks: Develop your human service skills by developing telephone-interviewing abilities, assisting with filing, completing conciliation forms, renewals, and vouchers.
Behavioral Health Services North - Stop Domestic Violence Program
Duties & Tasks: Conduct client intakes, complete reports and statistical information, transport clients to appointments, conduct follow-ups, attend court sessions, answer hotline, supervise clients’ children during group sessions, office work, assigned safe house tasks, spend time with clients, and work with police agencies.
Twin Oaks – Residential Program for Chemically Dependent Clientele
Duties & Tasks: Participate in group and individual counseling, make referrals, complete documentation, accompany residents to appointments, supervise residents, perform office duties, and attend court sessions with residents.
YMCA - After-school Program
Duties & Tasks: Supervise elementary school-age children in after-school activities, play games, assist with homework, prepare snacks, participate in parental discussions, and maintain safety of children.
Champlain Children’s Home - Residential Treatment
Duties & Tasks: Supervise adolescents in after-school and weekend activities, lead groups, complete documentation of activities according to individual plans, accompany resident to appointments, perform office duties, and assist with daily living skills.
Coordinated Children’s Services Initiative of Clinton County - Family Assistance Program
Duties & Tasks: Organize programs for families in FIT program, attend support meetings conducted by CCSI, and assist with clerical responsibilities.
Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital Skilled Nursing Home
Duties & Tasks: Develop activities for adult clientele, complete assessments under the guidance of the hospital social worker and facilitate group exercises.
Clinton County Nursing Home
Duties & Tasks: Develop activities for adult clientele, complete assessments under the guidance of the agency social worker, assist with documentation and attend agency meetings.
Child Care Coordinating Council of the North Country
Duties & Tasks: Assist Family Services Coordinator with activities for families and children; assist supervised visitation program.
Ted K. Center
Duties & Tasks: Supervise and conduct activities for individual or groups of pre-kindergarten age and school-aged children.
JCEO/Headstart
Duties & Tasks: Assist family worker with provision of services for children and families involved in Headstart program.
NAMI (National Alliance for the Mentally Ill)
Duties & Tasks: Assisting individuals with mental illness with daily living skills i.e. personal hygiene, cooking, cleaning, etc. Facilitating group activities, transporting individuals to assist with shopping, etc.
North Star Behavioral Health (Malone, NY)
Duties & Tasks: Assisting individuals with mental illness with daily living skills ie. personal hygiene, cooking, cleaning, etc. Facilitation of group activities, transporting of individuals to appointments, shopping, etc.
Kids Cove
Duties & Tasks: Supervise and conduct activities for individual or groups of pre-kindergarten age children, assist teacher with educational activities that include dance, water-room, arts and crafts, etc.
