Meeting Minutes
September 23, 2011 Room 222 - 9:00am

I.
Welcome: Jennifer Waite welcomed all members to another academic year and followed by introductions.

II. Human Services Scholarships/Wall of Fame Updates: Jennifer informed members of scholarship winners from last year and inquired about members serving on the committee for this coming year to pick scholarship winners. Jennifer is pushing the application process back one month so to allow more students to apply. Mary Buckley-LaBonte, Judy Feigenbaum, and Marty Frost volunteered to be on this committee.

III. Conference Results and Future Conferences: Jennifer gave an update on the Sandra Lushia Conference held in June and discussed future conferences. Stephanie Clark, Todd Castine, and Robin Pageau volunteered to be on the planning committee for next year’s conference.

IV. Student Learning Outcomes/Assessment Plan: Jennifer gave an update on the Human Services Assessment Plan for Student Learning Outcomes. The second part of the matrix is due for completion before December 15th. Results from the fall semester will be shared with the committee at the January meeting.

V. Department Goals for 2011-2012: Jennifer shared the Human Services Program Goals for 2011-2012. Goals included the request of another full-time faculty member, construction of walls in room 463 for a faculty office and an agency interview room, and professional development monies to assure attendance at the National Conference.

VI. New Allied Health Programs: Jennifer introduced information on the development of new allied health programs as a result of her involvement in a SUNY initiative for community colleges to develop consortium agreement for healthcare degree programs. Members shared ideas about potential programs and discussion will continue at January meeting.

VII. Student Report: Robin Pageau gave a report regarding student concerns with the program. There were no current concerns noted.

VIII. Announcements/Adjournment: Tom Baier announced that he would be retiring from the Department of Labor in October. Jennifer thanked him for his commitment and dedication to the Human Services Program. He gave Jennifer a name of a potential replacement. She will contact the individual. Round-table announcements were made by members.
