GUIDE TO FOREIGN LANGUAGE PLACEMENT

No previous experience in the language OR study was more than five years ago:

ØFRE 101, SPA 101

2-3 years of high school (Regent’s level B exam) or first semester college level:

ØFRE 102, SPA 102

OR

ØCLEP Exam (students with 3 or more years of high school Spanish or French may complete the requirement by taking the CLEP proficiency exam*)

High School Regent’s B exam score 85% + one additional year of H.S. Regent’s level language study OR any passing Regent’s score + 2 additional years of study:

ØFRE 201, SPA 201

OR

ØCLEP Exam (students with 3+ years of high school Spanish or French may complete the requirement by taking the CLEP proficiency exam*)

NOTES:

1.In the Fall, students must cross-register to enroll in a 200 level, or above, course.

2.To register for the CLEP exam, students need to call the PSUNY Lifelong Learning Center at 518-564-2050.
