Nursing Readmission to the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th Semester

Former Nursing students seeking readmission to the 2nd, 3rd or 4th semester must reapply through the Nursing Department. The written request for readmission must:

  • be submitted no later that April 15th for students seeking reentry into the 3rd semester.
  • be submitted no later than November 15 for those students seeking reentry into the 2nd and 4th semesters.
  • specify the semester, year and course to which the individual seeks readmission.
  • include adequate evidence to support qualifications for readmission. Adequate evidence includes:
    • recognition of the deterring factors in previous program attempt.
    • evidence of remediation of the deterring factors.
    • a plan for achieving successful completion of the Nursing Program.

Students with a failed general education course must repeat the course with a satisfactory grade (C or better) prior to readmission.

Students must be in satisfactory academic standing and have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher. The GPA will be calculated without the last failed NUR course grade.

The Department of Nursing will review the student request and determine the readmission status. Readmission is granted based on the above and on a space available basis. Available seat openings do not guarantee readmission.

A student will have only one (1) opportunity for readmission to the Nursing Program. Any student who is being readmitted to the program must meet all prerequisites for subsequent course work. A student being readmitted to the program must repeat any required nursing courses that were taken more than two years ago. Credit for prior science courses (Anatomy & Physiology and Microbiology) will be considered if the course(s) have been taken within five years of admission to Nursing.

Please see your Nursing Student Handbook for more detailed information.
