Grading Rubric for Orchestral Instrument Research Report
Your grade will be affected by these guidelines:
1. Completeness of report. All requirements are included.
2. Submission in both hard copy and electronic on or before the deadline date.
3. Webpages used are of high quality and suitable for college level research.
4. Your explanations for choice of websites assumes that you read more than one for each website needed. You will be comparing the one you use with those you reject.
Tip: Look beyond the first page of search results. Try using yahoo search.
--Comment on the website’s recency,
credibility and reliability, substance of material.
--Place value on both the quality of content and the quality of web design and
navigation ease.
--Being the most brief and concise is not necessarily a good reason for choice.
5. Summaries
should be long enough to provide highlights that indicate an understanding of
the
material.
6. Composers/Performers Categories
--Person is used only once
in your report, even if that person fits in more than one category.
--The webpage you choose
is devoted only to your person of choice.
--Summary gives a snapshot
of the person’s life, career, and importance in music.
--Summary information is
accurate.
--Summary is written in
your own words. No cut-and-paste.
7.
Repertoire
--Each of the five pieces
lists complete title, composer, era when composed.
--Listing a variety of
style and eras is desirable.
--Musical terms are used to
describe the piece you choose to listen to.
8. Orchestras are standard orchestras with
all the traditional instrument families.
--Summaries describe both the orchestra organization and
the website.
--Can be located anywhere
in the world.
