What is the LEAD Program?

An excellent opportunity to bring forth the leader inside! Students who are nominated by a faculty or staff member can join our LEAD (Leadership Education and Development) program. By attending four out of six sessions students will earn a certificate of completion.

We will review leadership through the following activities during the spring semester:

1. Myers-Briggs Type Indicator

Prior to this session, you will take the MBTI inventory. At the workshop, discover your personality preferences for directing/gaining energy, processing new information, making decisions, and organizing your time/life. You will learn how to appreciate other people’s preferences to make you a better leader.

Presenter: Tobi Hay, Coordinator, Student Leadership

2. Business Networking

Ever heard the expression, “It’s not what you know, it’s who you know?” We’ll learn about the power of networking and how to do it properly.

Presenters: Angela Doe, Coordinator for Community & Workforce Development
Steven Frederick, Dean of Development and Alumni Affairs

3. Board of Officers

This workshop is an actual panel of club officers. They will share their experience with you as well as how they decided to take on the position of leadership. An opening statement regarding leader positions and styles will be discussed to start this session.

Presenters: TBD

4. Community Service & Leadership

Join us for an Earth Day event as we clean up a section of the Salmon River Road. We will discuss the role of community service in leadership.

Presenter: Mary Lou Rabideau-Bruno, Student Leadership Coordinator

5. Etiquette Luncheon

Learn all you need to know about fine dining (Which fork to use? Which glass is mine?) when interviewing over lunch or dinner, or out for a meal with clients.

Presenter: Paul Bahan, Director of Marketing Sodexo out of the University of Vermont

6. Attend a Board of Trustees Meeting

See CCC leaders in action and observe a professional board meeting. Learn Robert’s Rules of Conduct and watch how meetings are properly conducted. The Board meets the third Tuesday of each month at 5:00 p.m. We will need to determine who is interested in attending then decide upon a date. Please do not attend unannounced or without the group.

Remember to receive a certificate of completion; you must attend at least 4 out of the 6 activities. To ensure space for everyone, please R.S.V.P. for workshops to:
