Computer Information Systems



The Computer Information Systems degree program will prepare students for positions in the field of computer repair & maintenance, network administration, entry level programming, database management, and web design.

Classes in the program feature a wide range of computer science courses. There is an emphasis on the objectives measured by the CompTIA A+ and Network+ Certification Exams and other courses that cover other areas of the field.

Graduates of the program will be prepared for immediate employment upon successful completion or may transfer to one of the bachelor degree programs that have written agreements with the Computer Information Systems degree program. Our newest agreement is with the Information Technology program at SUNY Plattsburgh.

The CIS degree features a broad-based, hands-on curriculum which covers a variety of different computer-related topics to include the following:

  • Computer Applications
  • Computer Operating Systems
  • Computer Hardware
  • Database Systems
  • Computer Programming
  • Computer Networking
  • Web Design and Programming

Students who complete a degree in CIS would be qualified to work as:

  • Entry level computer programmers
  • Computer hardware technicians
  • Network technicians (administrators)
  • Help-desk workers
