Student Development Grant Summary

History:

The Student Development Grant was the result of an idea brought forth by the CCC Alumni Association Board of Directors at a meeting held in August 2007. The board was discussing different ways to financially support student development/academic opportunities. It was decided to allocate a pool of money and encourage students to apply for the funds on a first come, first served basis until the funds run out.

Student Development Grant Guidelines:

The Student Development Grant can be used for the following:

  • Support individual student travel to an off campus event such as a local, state, or national educational conference
  • Support educational projects in collaboration with a faculty member
  • Support educational projects where other sources of funds are not available
  • Other programs/events/projects that enhance student development

2014 Student development grant applications are now available on line.

How to apply for a Student Development Grant:

  • Grant applications can be found on the CCC alumni website.
  • Grant application must be completed and e-mailed to the alumni office 3 weeks in advance of the event/program/project (grant money will not be awarded for an event that has already occurred)
  • All application materials MUST be e-mailed. If requesting travel money for a conference, attach an electronic copy (pdf) of the pamphlet or invite letter
  • A faculty/staff Advisor must provide letter of support via email

Procedure for awarding the Student Development Grant:

  • The Student Development Grant Committee will review each application and choose the recipient based on the merit of the application
  • An e-mail is sent to the student alerting them of the award (copy to faculty/staff sponsor)
  • Request for the student to write a thank-you letter to the Alumni Association
  • Request for pictures of the event/program for possible publication in Alumni materials, the Alumni web-site and/or newsletters

Student Development Grant Award Amounts:

  • The 2014 balance of the fund is $7,000 and awards will be made until all funds have been spent.
  • The maximum award is $500 per student with no application deadlines – first come, first served
