Campus Construction Update

Directory of office relocations

We would like to take this opportunity to provide you with an update on our 1st floor construction project.

Effective Thursday, November 11th, the contractors will start excavating on the east side of the Moore building. East side windows should remain closed during this time. Also, the east veranda stairs will be closed throughout the duration of this project. Access to the east side will be permitted through the cafeteria as well as through the northeast entrance (just past the cafeteria). The northeast designated smoking area will remain open during this time.

Two parking spaces have been coned off in the faculty/staff parking lot and will be designated for Contractor’s use only. This will allow the contractors access to the east side of the building. Please keep these spaces open and available for their use.

As of Monday, November 15, 2010, the contractors will begin to set up containment for the start of the abatement project.

The south entrance will still be accessible but patrons using this entrance will be strongly encouraged to use the south stairs (other than those needing access to the elevator).

Use of the Moore Building elevator will be available but will be restricted to patron’s needing assistance and who are unable to use the stairs. All able individuals are strongly urged to use the stairs to ensure the elevator is available for those needing assistance.

The south hallway (south of the center stairwell to the south fire doors) as well as the east hallway (former Business Office and Continuing Education Departments) will no longer be accessible for “through traffic” once the project commences. These areas will be off limits to the general public throughout the duration of the project.

For example; if a patron needed to use the elevator, they would need to use the south entrance and proceed to the restricted access area to the elevator. If they then wished to go to the cafeteria, they would need to exit through the south entrance, go outside and proceed to the center entrance (near Switchboard).

With the anticipated increase to exterior foot traffic along the front of the Moore Building and to ensure everyone’s safety, it is strongly recommended that all patrons refrain from driving along the front of the Moore building as much as possible. Extreme caution is asked from all patrons who will continue to use this area.

Should you have any questions or concerns concerning this project, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Safety is our foremost importance as we approach and proceed through this major construction phase on our campus. Thank you for your continued cooperation.
