Cake Decorating

Course Description: Learn to decorate the perfect cake for your special occasion! Expert Kim Todd brings the Wilton cake decorating methods to Clinton Community College and North Country Cultural Center for the Arts (NCCCA) in this fun, hands-on, (and sweet!) course. Students will learn how to make buttercream icing, properly ice a cake, put in a filling, and smooth the cake for decorating. Then, they’ll learn to put a piping gel transfer (picture) on their cake, pipe borders, flowers, fill and ice cupcakes, use the flower nail, make ribbon roses, write on a cake, different kinds of border and decorative piping techniques, icing consistency, and proper bag position and pressure. Students may bring their own cake or cupcakes at the end of the course to try out their new skills.

This course is offered in partnership with the NCCCA and will take place at the NCCCA building in downtown Plattsburgh.

Course Description: Learn how to use color, paint and other watercolor materials. Have fun and get creative mixing paint on a variety of paper types to gain a better understanding of this medium. This workshop will present and demonstrate many topics including: Theory of Paint Colors, About Paper, Color Basics, Palette Work, Using Dot Charts, Intense Color Mixing, Color Blending, How to use Color Creatively, Where to find art materials and brands, Brainstorming Color for Effectiveness.

Course Description: Interested in creating and producing your own original art greeting? Join instructor Bryan Briscoe as he walks students through the creative and the traditional technical art processes; teaches students how to make your art leave a lasting impression and helps you develop your card designs. This is a fun hands-on original art workshop. The instructor will perform demonstrations as needed.

Course Description: This class will focus on a fun approach to art making for all levels. You’ll use a variety of paper, paint and brushes to give your work a modern look and feel. The instructor will bring construction paper for experimentation and color tinting. The instructor will walk you through 3 lessons step-by-step so you gain experience.
