Summer Intensive ESL Program Details

Summer 2014 Program Dates - 2- week program: August 10 - 22, 2014

Classes will begin promptly at 9:30am EST on Monday, August 11th.  Students can expect daily class time and homework, but also excursions into the local communities.

Classes are held five days a week, Monday through Friday, for a total of 20 hours per week. The curriculum is divided into two main components:

  • Academic Skills for 2-1/2 hours per day (reading, writing and grammar)
  • Communication Skills for 1-1/2 hours per day (listening, pronunciation, speaking skills), making a total of four class hours per day.

Take advantage of afternoon activities and free time to learn about Plattsburgh and the surrounding area! Explore the Adirondack Coast on one of the nation's longest freshwater beaches or take a walk along trails at Point Au Roche State Park, on the shores of Lake Champlain. Check out the Champlain Valley Transportation Museum to learn more about Plattsburgh's rich history, or take a ride down a fast river at Au Sable Chasm. In all of these settings students will have the opportunity to use their english skills and enjoy all that our area has to offer.

Program Tuition: $1850 per person

Program tuition includes instruction and materials, most meals, housing accommodations, and transportation. Students will stay in a campus residence hall. Clinton Community College has two
 residence halls located 2 miles from the campus. Residents share a spacious room with one roommate. All rooms include beds, dressers, desks, chairs, television and Internet access.


Program tuition does not include any admission fees for afternoon activities, some meals when students are traveling, or student health insurance. 

To Register

Space in this program is limited and registrations are  first-come, first-served. The $180 deposit due when you complete your registration form is non-refundable.
 

You will be contacted within 48 hours of submitting your registration form and deposit. At this time, you will be prompted for your financial statement and health insurance information. You should also begin the process of obtaining a visa to travel to the US, if necessary. Travel Details

Students are expected to arrive on campus on August 10th, but not earlier than August 9th. Classes begin promptly at 930am (EDT) on Monday, August 11th. Clinton will provide transportation from and to local airports on the following schedule:

  • One shuttle from Burlington International Airport, in Vermont, on Saturday August 9th and Sunday August 10th at 4:00 pm both days.
  • One shuttle from Plattsburgh International Airport on Saturday August 9th and Sunday, August 10th at 530pm both days.
  • Students who arrive outside of these parameters (i.e. BEFORE August 9th or AFTER 3:45 pm on August 10th) will be responsible for their own transportation to campus. Each student must provide their travel plans to the Program Coordinator NO LATER THAN July 25th, along with final payment for the program.

Taxi Services or Taxi Service List Hotel Services

Students will be responsible for their own transportation to campus for any flights arriving after 3:45 p.m. on Sunday August 10th or before 6:00 a.m. August 10th.

Students who will be departing after the program will need to check out of the Clinton resident hall by 1:30 p.m. on August 22nd.  Flights should not be scheduled earlier than 5:00 p.m. on August 22nd. Transportation to Burlington International Airport and Plattsburgh International Airport will be provided.
