Douglas Library Lending/Use Policies


*Lending Policies for all Borrowers*

A valid CCC library card is required to borrow and renew library and media materials.  Holds can be placed on books, however holds cannot be placed on media materials. 

*Student Borrower Information*

  • Current students must present valid CCC student picture ID and may be asked for proof of enrollment.
  • Books are loaned for three weeks.
  • DVDs are loaned for two days.
  • CDs are loaned for one week.
  • Other media is loaned for one week.
  • Students may borrow up to ten items at a time (no more than three DVDs simultaneously).
  • Course reserve items are available for two hours, and may be used in the library only. 
  • Patrons may check out no more than one course reserve item at a time and must return item before borrowing another. 
  • Students with overdue items will receive an overdue notice. Additional items cannot be borrowed until late materials are returned.
  • If overdue items remain outstanding, a second notice will be sent, and the student borrower will be impounded. 

Students will be charged for lost or damaged items.

  • Library Fees - lost book and media replacement - actual cost plus $10.00 processing fee per item.

*College Faculty & Staff Borrower Information*

Please check with library staff for information regarding loan periods and other circulation matters. 

*Community Patron Borrower Information*

Clinton County residents 18 years of age or older are welcome to apply for a community patron card.  To obtain a community patron card, please bring a valid picture ID, preferably a driver's license, to the circulation desk.  The community patron card is valid for one year and must be renewed annually by showing picture ID.  The card allows community patrons to borrow up to five items with no more than two DVDs/CDs at a time.  Community patrons do not have interlibrary loan privileges through Douglas Library.  

  • Books are loaned for three weeks.
  • DVDs are loaned for two days.
  • CDs are loaned for one week.
  • Items may NOT be renewed over the phone.  When returning materials, items may be renewed if they have not been requested by another patron, and are not overdue.
  • Community patrons with overdue items will receive an overdue notice. Additional items cannot be borrowed until late materials are returned.

Community patrons will be charged for lost or damaged items.

*Library Equipment & Facilities Use*

  • Media equipment (laptops, projectors, cameras, etc.) is not loaned for personal or private use.  Staff should review Off-Campus Use of Media Equipment guidelines. 
  • CCC students doing academic work take first priority on library computers. If all computers are being used, please ask one of the library staff for assistance.
  • The library has two photocopiers; copies are $0.10 per page.  The library also has a KIC scanner for public use.  All copying is subject to copyright regulations. 
  • Please enter and exit the library through the second floor lobby doors. All other door alarms are operational.
  • Food is not permitted in the library.  Please go to the lobby to eat.
  • Only spill-proof containers are permitted in the library for beverages.
  • Tobacco use of any sort (smoking or smokeless, etc.) is not permitted in the library.    
  • Cell phone use is not permitted in the library.  Please take all calls in the lobby.
  • Conversation should not interfere with or disrupt students' ability to study.
  • The CCC Information Technology Acceptable Use Policy applies to all library computers, including those in Room 209, the library classroom, the main floor, Media, and any other library computer.
  • Douglas Library provides off-campus access to many electronic resources.  Access depends on one's affiliation with the college and the type of agreement in place with the vendor of the resource.  Check here for details.
