Computer Electronics Technology

The Computer Electronics Technology (CET) A.A.S. degree program provides graduates with skills in two areas: information technology and electronics. Students have the option to concentrate their studies by following either the Information Technology track or the Electronics Track. Skilled Computer Electronics Technicians are in high demand, and nearly all students who have successfully completed the CET program have gone to work in the technology field, making some of the highest starting salaries of Clinton alumni. Students have the option of transferring to one of several colleges in New York State offering Bachelor’s Degrees in Computer Engineering Technology or Electrical Engineering Technology.

Students in the CET program study the electronics associated with computer systems as well as the software that makes these systems function. Graduates of this program will be prepared for positions requiring an understanding of the hardware and software applications of microprocessors and other computer-based systems.

Students in the CET program take courses in:

  • DC and AC electrical circuits
  • Digital and analog electronics
  • Computer programming
  • Computer networking
  • Microcontrollers

Students in the Information Technology track of the CET program take additional courses in:
