Dr. Herdic's Clinton Legacy

  • Professor, 1969 – 2005
  • Adjunct, 2007 -2014
  • Professor of Health and Physical Education; Coach

With a strong belief in the community college experience and a deep commitment to his students, Dr. Herdic believed that teaching and coaching extended far beyond the classroom and the playing fields.

His health classes and first aid courses showed students the importance of proactive decisions regarding their well-being and equipped them with life-saving skills which could make the difference of life and death.

Professor Herdic’s deep respect for the outdoors led him to offer programs of hiking, camping, canoeing and kayaking. From the rivers and the lakes to the trails and the mountaintops of the Adirondacks, CCC students learned teamwork, resilience, and a profound appreciation for the environment as they explored nature.

In addition to his teaching, Dr. Herdic ("Coach Herdic") served as a coach for many sports over his tenure at CCC. With his background in physical education, he valued fairness, discipline, and integrity in athletics. He believed that sportsmanship meant respect for all players, process over outcome, and the importance of skill mastery.

Not everyone is fortunate to find a career that they truly love; however, Dr. Herdic was that individual. He approached his career at CCC with energy, creativity, and dedication. What he gave to the college came back to him in wonderful relationships with students, faculty, and administrators.
