All USA Academic Team:

The All-USA Academic Team recognizes high achieving college students who demonstrate academic excellence and intellectual rigor combined with leadership and service that extends their education beyond the classroom to benefit society. Sponsored by Cengage with additional support provided by the American Association of Community Colleges and Phi Theta Kappa, this prestigious award is a testament to the outstanding accomplishments of Courtney Coon and Carissa Parah.

Courtney Coon, a dedicated nursing student at Clinton Community College, embodies the spirit of perseverance and commitment. Despite juggling the responsibilities of wife and mother, Courtney also works overnight shifts as a clinical assistant at Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital. Her unwavering determination fuels her aspirations to seamlessly transition into a nursing role within the hospital's Emergency Department upon graduation, thereby continuing her career within the same institution. Driven by a thirst for knowledge and a passion for community welfare, Courtney aims to expand her expertise by pursuing a bachelor's degree in nursing. Her ultimate goal is to provide invaluable aid to those in need while making meaningful contributions to her local community.

Carissa Parah, a Human Services major along with a Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor certificate, envisions immersing herself in the dynamic and multifaceted landscape of the human services field. With a strong foundation in understanding human behavior, social systems, and intervention strategies, Carissa aspires to address a wide range of societal issues, including substance abuse, mental health challenges, and more. Through her work in a substance abuse clinic as a counselor, she intends to leverage her knowledge and skills to provide holistic support to individuals in need, while also advocating for systemic changes to improve access to resources and reduce stigma surrounding addiction. Carissa's goal is to contribute meaningfully to the well-being of individuals and communities, promoting resilience, empowerment, and social justice within the human services realm.
