CCC Men’s Basketball Starts Season Strong Following Record-Breaking Year
Clinton Community College’s Men’s Basketball team kicked off the new season on November 1st with their first away game.
During last year’s successful season, the Cougars reached the Final Four in the Region 3 playoffs for the first time since 2014, finishing last season with an impressive 17-11 record. Marking significant milestones, Clinton hosted a home playoff game and secured their first playoff victory since 2014.
On Friday, November 1st, the Cougars traveled to Randolph Center, Vermont, to face Vermont State Randolph. Clinton started strong, with Elijah Carroll sinking the opening free throw and leading the charge to a 15-point advantage with eight minutes left in the first half. Vermont State rallied with key three-point shots, but Clinton maintained a 39-28 lead at halftime. Despite Vermont’s continued push, cutting the deficit to six with six minutes remaining, the Cougars extended their lead back to 11 points with just over a minute to go. The Cougars held on for a 73-66 victory, starting their season with a 1-0 record.
The team’s highly anticipated Home Opener is on Saturday, November 9th at 1:00 pm. Clinton Community College encourages fans to show their school spirit by wearing orange, turning the stands into an “Orange Out.”
