Carey Goyette Honored with Assemblyman Billy Jones's 2024 Women of Distinction Education Award
Clinton Community College proudly announces that Carey Goyette, Vice President for Academic Affairs, has been rewarded with the 2024 Women of Distinction Education Award by Assemblyman Billy Jones. The recognition underscores Goyette's tireless dedication to higher education and her profound impact on the academic landscape of New York.
With over two decades committed to shaping the educational journey of countless New Yorkers, Carey Goyette's journey is marked by a steadfast commitment to academic excellence. Hailing from Chazy, Goyette's educational foundation was laid at Chazy Central Rural School before she pursued further studies at SUNY Plattsburgh and Russell Sage College.
Goyette's illustrious career began with her role as an instructor at Clinton Community College and SUNY Plattsburgh, gradually ascending to the position of professor at the former institution. Carey has further contributed to Clinton Community College by serving as Department Chair for both the English and History departments. Currently, she holds the position of Vice President for Academic Affairs. Throughout her tenure, Goyette spearheaded numerous initiatives at Clinton Community College, notably the Lake Champlain Summer Arts Institute, a transformative summer camp catering to grades 7 through 12.

For her unwavering dedication and contributions, Goyette was honored with the Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Faculty Service, a testament to her exceptional commitment to the academic community. Beyond her professional endeavors, Goyette actively engages with her community as a member of the American Legion and the Clinton County Canine Club.
Goyette's altruistic spirit extends to her cherished companion, Auster, with whom she forms a certified Love on a Leash therapy dog team. Together, they bring comfort and joy to local nursing homes and schools, embodying the transformative power of compassion and companionship.
The 2024 Women of Distinction Awards ceremony, held on May 9, 2024, at Clinton Community College, celebrated Goyette's outstanding achievements alongside other remarkable recipients. As Vice President for Academic Affairs, Goyette continues to inspire and empower the next generation of leaders, leaving an indelible mark on the educational landscape of New York.
