Dear Friends,
It’s official: Clinton Community College is one of the
Best Community Colleges in the Nation!
So says Washington Monthly magazine in its 2013 Community College Ranking.
The ranking is based on eight statistics collected by the U.S. Department of
Education and by the Community College Survey of Student Engagement. It
is noteworthy that these statistics focus mainly on students outcomes, such as
graduation and transfer rates, and the support for learning that faculty and staff
provide to students. It is also noteworthy that Clinton was one of only 50 colleges
in the nation, and the only college in New York State, to make this list this year.
News of our national ranking caught me by surprise when it was announced
at the end of August. I wasn’t surprised that Clinton was performing well.
I was surprised, though, that our work here in the North Country had been
noticed by people in the nation’s capital. It was a great way to end the 2012-
2013 academic year and to kick-off the start of the 2013-2014 year.
As exciting as it is, our national ranking is just one of many indications
that Clinton Community College is accomplishing great things. Last year,
Clinton had more graduates than any other year since its founding in 1966.
Clinton’s College Advancement Program (CAP) became one of only 89
programs nationwide to earn accreditation by the National Alliance of
Concurrent Enrollment Partnerships (NACEP). Our Center for Community and
Workforce Development (CCWD) saw its non-credit business and industry
courses and programs grow by more than 35% over the prior year.
In these and many other ways, Clinton is gaining momentum. It takes many people
– students, faculty, staff and volunteers – to accomplish our mission, and with your
help, we will continue to enrich minds, strengthen the economy and improve the
quality of life for the people of our region. Thank you for your ongoing support.
Best Regards,
John E. Jablonksi
