WCAX Channel 3 recently highlighted Clinton Community College’s efforts to help students turn skills into careers during its Local Business Spotlight segment.

The segment dove into the growing lineup of hands-on programs at Clinton tailored to meet the needs of today’s workforce and regional employers.

The college offers training in high-demand trades such as industrial and commercial electrical, mechanical technology and welding. These programs are designed to provide students with practical experience and clear pathways to employment.

"We’re bringing programs like our welding academy back because we recognize the importance of these trades to our industry partners," said Billy Jones, Vice President of Strategic Initiatives and Workforce Development. "Our goal is to ensure students not only graduate with valuable skills but also contribute meaningfully to the local workforce."

In addition to technical training, Clinton is actively developing apprenticeship programs that combine classroom learning with real-world, on-the-job experience.

"We’re connecting students directly with the community," Jones said. "It’s about helping them find fulfilling careers that support both their personal goals and the region’s economic growth."

The college’s efforts extend beyond technical training, with additional focus on how graduates contribute to the broader community.

"At Clinton, our faculty and staff take pride in the success of our students and alumni," said Tom Nesbitt, Vice President of Enrollment Management. "Whether it’s a nurse in the hospital, a small business owner or a manufacturing manager, Clinton graduates are making a difference every day."
