Clinton Community College honored its Class of 2026 over the weekend, celebrating student achievement during one of the most consequential years in the college’s 60-year history.

A total of 106 graduates earned the opportunity to walk across the stage during a commencement ceremony held Friday evening at the historic Strand Theatre in Plattsburgh.

The event marked a memorable milestone for both the graduates and the institution.

The ceremony featured remarks from Acting President Ken Knelly, Board of Trustees Chair Devi Momot, Faculty Greeter and Professor Emeritus Catherine Eloranto and Vice President for Institutional Advancement Steven Frederick. Student speakers included Valedictorian Brett Herrick and Salutatorian David MacAlpine, who reflected on their academic journeys and the significance of the moment.

This year marked the first time Clinton held its commencement ceremony at the Strand Theatre, following a historic transition for the college. In August 2025, Clinton Community College officially relocated and began co-location on the campus of SUNY Plattsburgh, ushering in a new chapter focused on accessibility, collaboration and sustainability.

“We are incredibly proud of this graduating class and all they have accomplished, particularly during a year of significant change for the college,” said Knelly. “Their resilience and determination embody the spirit of Clinton Community College. We are confident they will make meaningful contributions to their communities and professions.”

During the ceremony, Herrick encouraged his fellow graduates to celebrate their achievements and carry that confidence with them into the future.

“We've all made it this far, pushing through life and school and jobs, and each and every one of us should be incredibly proud of what we've accomplished,” said Herrick.
