Clinton Community College to Inaugurate President Ken Knelly

President Ken Knelly

Clinton Community College will celebrate the inauguration of President Ken Knelly, the institution's 10th president, with a series of events designed to recognize his leadership and mark a new chapter in the college's history.

Presidential Inauguration Week will bring together students, faculty, staff and community members to honor Knelly's contributions to the institution thus far and celebrate his appointment as the college's president.

The SUNY Board of Trustees formally appointed Knelly president in June 2026. He previously served as acting president, a role he assumed in 2025. Knelly first joined Clinton Community College leadership in 2024 when he was appointed administrator in charge by the college's Board of Trustees.

The celebration will begin Tuesday, Nov. 17, with an Inauguration Fundraiser at 5 p.m. at West Side Ballroom on New York Road in Plattsburgh. Featuring a "Day at the Saratoga Race Course" theme, the event will include food and entertainment, with further opportunities to support the college. Tickets are $50 per person and may be purchased online or by calling 518-562-4195.

The official inauguration ceremony will take place Wednesday, Nov. 18, at 4 p.m. at the historic Strand Theatre on Brinkerhoff Street in downtown Plattsburgh. The ceremony will feature remarks from President Knelly, SUNY Chancellor John B. King Jr., Clinton Community College Board of Trustees Chair Devi Momot and Clinton County Legislature Chairman Mark Henry. Attendees will also enjoy a performance by the Plattsburgh State Gospel Choir. The event is free and open to the public.

Immediately following the ceremony, a post-inauguration celebration will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. at nearby 1UP Arcade and Pub on Margaret Street. The gathering is open to all and will include complimentary pinball. Food and beverages will be available for purchase.

All three events are presented by the George and Shirley Moore Foundation.
